Fat Family flips raft

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Ok, another one of those amazingly stupid news post that I just had to share with you curious readers…

“Family’s weight eyed in ride spill at Riviera Beach’s Rapids Water Park”

A family of 4 (Dad & 3 kids!!!) who weighed about 850lbs to 900lbs flipped a raft at a water park. The ride says maximum weight for each raft is 700lbs. They got on and flipped the ride and went to the hospital. Now they are thinking about suing the park!

We have all seen those signs before “must be this big to ride this ride”. Now if you let your son who is 3ft tall ride on a scary roller coaster that was designed for people 5ft or taller. Who’s fault is it? Well yeah of course the ride attendants must stop him before riding.

Now put yourself in their shoes. A happy family of 4 who to you must weigh 5,000lbs comes to the front of the line. How embarrassed and insulted are they going to be when you ask them for their weight?  How about you? What if they make a huge scene because they are denied entry? What if you asked them and they flat out lied? What if you want to split them up into groups of 4? You maybe thinking that just two alone maybe over the 700lb limit.

So what do you do? You can’t just weigh them in front of everyone.
Well either way the family is going to try and sue the park even though their were signs posted stating the weight restrictions.

Greener Computers?

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

I was just thinking about a greener computer. I’m an apple fan so I went to the apple website to see how green their commitments are. I was impressed to find out that as far back as 1990 they have been making a change to become a greener apple. You can read all about it here: Apple Environment

They also recycle your old computer regardless of manufacturer.

Looking around the office, I notice the only machines left are apple computers. I purchased my first mac back in 2001. A 466 G4 computer. So I was thinking, I should hook it up to the network (plug ethernet cable and turn it on) and see if it still worked or if I was just keeping it for nostalgic reasons. Low and behold, it still worked. It had an older version of OS X but my other computers could connect to it with no problems. What really surprised me was the fact that I could share the screen of my older computer using my newer computers running OS X Leopard! AHHH my old desktop… WHAT A MESS!

I didn’t even need to plug in a keyboard, a monitor and a mouse… All remotely controlled.

Well back on topic… Greener computers.
Wouldn’t a greener computer be one that would never need recycling? One that 6 years later works without problems. This computer can now be used for simple things like checking emails, going online and viewing websites or add another hard drive to it, and make it into a mini web server. Maybe Apple timemachine?

I’m a professional who relies on his computer everyday. I’m currently running the latest and greatest web and graphic software with no hitches on a 3 year old computer. Never have I owned Virus or Spyware protection or needed to. You don’t get viruses running OS X. Yes you do pay a little bit more for apple products then you normally would. With the attention to details and design they make a much superior product that will last longer then most in the market. So if in 7 years I have only purchased 2 computers that I really needed, before Apple I was purchasing a new computer every year and a half. That’s about 5 computers in the time span of 2 apples.

Now imagine, a computer like this being used in offices around the world. What a huge impact to the environment then? With low cost apple computers which can handle the day to day business routines such as the mac mini. Out last any PCs running today. Give the IT dept less of a headache due to how stable these machines are and how easy it is to troubleshoot.

I have an old friend who is a Die hard PC user. He always jokes around with me and tells me he owns an apple. He uses it as an anchor for his boat.

My reply to him: Apple, it just works…

Ahh yes Monday Rants

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Howdy, yes it is time for another senseless rant about life. We’ll start with some news:

Cleveland schools need $1 million sponsor for uniforms
Ahh yes… $1 million dollars for uniforms. What about school supplies? Up to date books?

Person Takes Ordnance To Police Station
Ahh yes, if you find a bomb (Anywhere) call the cops. Don’t move it anywhere. uhh duh?!

hehe
Women finally can take charge as a Bishop (or soon)… In other news,  Church of England plans male ’superbishops’ for rebel clergy who refuse to be led by women.

Thief turned HERO!!
This man was doing the wrong thing, saw a van and decided he wanted it. Once he broke in he saw a bunch of suspect things like gas cans and styrofoam cups containing white substance and wires. He moved the van and called the cops.

Cart it up!
So, hopefully I will be starting a new job this/next week. I had plans on buying on a small Honda Ruckus scooter or possibly a yamaha Zuma Scooter. But these guys take the cake, STREET LEGAL GOLF CART. Now that is hip.
