Hello world!

Welcome to my new blog. We’re going to start our entry with a post about wikipedia.

I was talking to one of my cousins the other day. She is still in high school and had to do a report on something. She began to ask me a whole bunch of questions on a topic I knew nothing about. I told her “to get the answers to your question, check out wikipedia.” She told me her teacher said not to use wikipedia since wikipedia’s information is not correct.

Yeah granted in the past there have been people who have added bogus information about certain topics. Although, wikipedia falls under that same umbrella as a Fast food place who now places warning labels on their ‘hot’ coffee. It happened once, but you better believe they are trying to make sure it never happens again.

Instead of restricting the students from using the internet, which by the way it’s original purposes was to pass information along from one place to another (not some porn/chat box), why not teach them how to use the internet correctly. For this example, wikipedia. The teacher could of taught his/her students that wikipedia is the online encyclopedia pulling from multiple online sources. Kind of like how you goto a library and find multiple books. They may or may not be accurate but, this was the accepted methods in school in my heyday before the internet was the big thing. I for one would of loved the power of the internet. I know for sure I would of had decent grades in school if I had it.

This is just my 2 cents, kind of like a rant… and stuff.
